ChatGPT 5.6: Was hat sich geändert? Von Fan-outs bis zu Quellen

With the rollout of ChatGPT 5.6, the patterns behind fan-outs have shifted clearly: each request triggers more search queries, more often with site: operators and deliberately with terms such as “official”. At the same time, more sources are used — while Reddit and arXiv lose visibility, brand domains gain importance and classic listicles decline. Drawing on analyses, this talk shows what has changed from fan-outs through to final source selection — and what that means for GEO and brand visibility.

CPO & CMO, Peec AI

David Konitzny is a GEO researcher focused on AI search and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). He studies how large language models and AI search systems retrieve, evaluate and generate information as answers. His research focus is reverse-engineering modern AI systems such as ChatGPT and AI agents to decode their retrieval, ranking and source-selection mechanisms with data. Among other things, he analyses query fan-outs, citation and retrieval processes, and how AI agents behave when gathering information. From this work he derives models and insights that explain how brands and content are found, evaluated and recommended in AI search systems — and how those systems change over time.
